2015 IS THE YEAR OF ART BONE CARVING UNDER THE 5-YEAR PROGRAM "PROPERTY OF RUSSIA. TRADITIONS FOR THE FUTURE"

In the All-Russian Decorative Art Museum the 2015 year is announced as the "Year of art bone carving" under the Museum’s strategic program "Property of Russia. Tradition for the Future ". The program of 2015 is made according to the particular relevance and development of Russian art of bone carving and includes several major events.

The first one is the opening of the exhibition "Tales of Chukotka" in March. About thirty engraved walrus tusks as well as large pictures of individual engraved scenes and printed texts of fairy tales will be presented there.

The second is the largest over the past decade exhibition "History of Art. Bone carving in Russia XVIII - XX centuries. "Large-scale retrospective show of artworks of XVIII-XXI centuries.

In the spring 2015the  museum will open for the visitors a new opportunity to get acquainted with a collection of carved ivory in "Open storage" form, which includes a visit to the museum funds with a guide.

Finally, in autumn an illustrated album, showing the diversity of carved artworks of XVIII-XXI centuries from the VMDPNI funds will be presented. It continues the series of the most valuable collections of the museum.

EXHIBITION "TRAVEL ON THE ROADS OF TIME. CARVING ART OF RUSSIA"

This large-scale exhibition project will be the end of the year the art of bone carving in the museum under the program "Property of Russia. Tradition for the Future ". Museum for the first time will present its unique collection of bone carving art, which includes works of all known industries that exist in Russia from the XVIII century to the present day. The exhibition will be on display more than 400 exhibits made from different types of bone. Viewers will see the diversity of styles and techniques of carving the images formed in the centuries in different regions.

THE EXHIBITION "TALES OF CHUKOTKA. KELLY AND OTHER" - A COLLECTION OF ENGRAVED IVORY 1940-1980-IES.

18 марта во Всероссийском музее декоративно-прикладного и народного искусства открывается выставка «Сказки Чукотки. Келе и другие», посвященная уникальному явлению в искусстве северных народов – художественной резьбе по кости, где соединились древние традиции устного народного творчества с самобытной изобразительной культурой. На выставке будет представлено тридцать гравированных моржовых клыков, выполненных в период 1940–1980-х годов. Экспозиция будет дополнена текстами древних сказок и фотографиями отдельных гравированных сцен.
