From September 8 to October 16, 2017 in the All-Russian Museum of Decorative and Applied and Folk Art, within the framework of the project "Born October", an exhibition "Sixteen Symbols of the Union" is dedicated to the main emblem of the Soviet state.

In the All-Russian Museum of Decorative and Applied and Folk Art from September 22 to October 22, 2017 will be an exhibition "Blessing", timed to the anniversary of Ekaterina Fedorovna Shchanitsyna. Creativity of the artist reflected the essence of Palekh art, combining high poetics and folklore content of the lacquer miniature of Palekh.


The All-Russian Museum of Decorative and Applied and Folk Art took part in the annual conference of the Committee of Fine Arts of the International Council of Museums (ICOM, ICFA) in Copenhagen. The meetings were held in the halls of the museum "Collection Harschprang" and the State Art Museum of Denmark from 17 to 20 September 2017. Theme of the conference: "We change the halls? Permanent exhibition and storage rooms".


On the 3rd of October at the Center for Fashion and Design begins a series of free public discussions "Soviet design as a project of a new person." Discussions between experts from different fields of humanitarian knowledge will show the interconnections of the objective world and the modeling of the consciousness and outlook of the Soviet man. Russian designers, architects, art historians, philologists, journalists, specialists in the field of visual communications, sociologists and philosophers will take part in the discussions. A series of events is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Great October Revolution.


On the 7th of October at the Center for Fashion and Design begins the course "Culture of production and consumption of clothing." Each participant will be able to make a piece of clothing made of organic cotton with his own hands, with a manual study of the textile composition.


Since October 18, 2017 in the Center for Fashion and Design an exhibition of works by contemporary Russian designers "NEO" has opened, which will answer the question of what the dress code of the hero of our time. The exhibition features more than 30 items - dresses, coats, shoes and accessories, inscribed in modern context, but created with the use of authentic Russian textile techniques such as heel, embroidery, patchwork.


From October 19 to October 30, 2017, a unique exhibition of the best works of contemporary lacquer miniature painting was opened in the framework of the jubilee celebrations in honor of the Honored Worker of Culture of the Russian Federation, the head of the lacquer miniature painting department of the All-Russian Museum of Decorative and Applied and Folk Art Lyudmila Leonidovna Pirogova. The exhibition features works from private collections in Holland, France and Russia, many of which were written specifically for the anniversary of L. L. Pirogova.


The All-Russian Decorative Art Museum would like to thank all the researchers from all over Russia and abroad who took part in the Contest for participating the XV Jubilee conference commemorating Vladimir Vasilenko “Russian Style: in Search of the National Identity”. A huge amount of applications and a wide geography – from the Far East to the United States demonstrated an incredible interest to the subject of the Russian Style and national identity in general. The choice was really hard.


The permanent exposition "The Russian Style: From Historism to Modernity" was opened with a press-show at which the Director of the Museum and the curator of the permanent exposition told about the history of its creation and unique exhibits that will be available to a wide audience from October 20, 2017.


Alexander McQueen is one of the most outstanding designers of the late 1990s and early 2000s. He went down in history as the brightest rebel, bully and provocateur. And also as the greatest tailor with the richest imagination. Each of his things is unique - cut, details, embroidery, fabric stuffing. He did not just create clothes, he told the story, expressed his attitude to what was happening around. His collection - about him, about his thoughts, feelings, experiences. This is a world built according to its own laws. And in his own way he is perfect.


October 26, 2017 in the Center for Fashion and Design of the All-Russian Museum of Decorative and Applied Art opens the exhibition "I ask to the table! Serving from Oksana Lychagina. " The exhibition presents more than 30 photos of the services created by the designer Oksana Lychagina. In these subject compositions are combined dishes and hand-made and mass production items from different countries and epochs, including the author's works by Oksana Lychagina herself. Photos are made in the technique of mobobot: they are made with the help of a smartphone and are not processed in photo editors.



The project will include lectures, public lectures, discussions, presentations and other formats of events. Modern Russian designers who create clothes, accessories, furniture, dishes, decor elements, interiors will tell about their projects and try to answer the question: what is the "Russian style" and what does this concept mean personally for them?


From 1 to 23 November, the All-Russian Museum of Decorative, Applied and Folk Art will host the exhibition "Porcelain Way", dedicated to the 185th anniversary of the Dulevo Plant. In 2017, 170 years will be Matvey Sidorovich Kuznetsov - a bright representative of the Kuznetsov dynasty and 205 years since the foundation of the Kuznetsov business


On November 4, 2017, the All-Russian Museum of Decorative, Applied and Folk Art invites to hold the Day of National Unity, which will flow into the evening, when music, literature, cinema and painting will merge into a single firework of the annual cultural and educational event "Night of Arts".


From November 15, 2017 to February 25, 2018, the All-Russian Museum of Decorative and Applied and Folk Art opened the exhibition "The History of Russia in a Lacquer Miniature: XX Century" with the support of the RHANA Corporation and the "History of the Fatherland" Foundation.

On November 16, 2017, at 20:00, a concert of the brilliant Russian pianist and composer Vladimir Sverdlov-Ashkenazi will take place in the All-Russian Museum of Decorative and Applied and Folk Art.


From November 17, 2017 to February 25, 2018 in the All-Russian Museum of Decorative and Applied and Folk Art within the exhibition cycle "Born by October"  there is an exhibition "Porcelain Revolution. Dream of the New World. Soviet porcelain from the collection of VMDPNI. "The exhibition includes the best samples of an extensive and diverse collection of museums, traditionally called agitation porcelain.


We would like to invite you to participate in the International Jubilee 15th Conference commemorating Vladimir Vasilenko. It takes place in Moscow in the All-Russia Decorative Art Museum and is supported by the History of Motherland Foundation and the International Council of Museums.

In 2017 the museum holds out a contest for researches from all over the world. Authors of the selected papers will be granted tickets to Moscow and both printed and electronic publications of the conference materials (see Rules of the Contest).


Since December 9, the exhibition "AquaPaint" will be opened in the All-Russian Museum of Decorative, Applied and Folk Art. The exhibition will feature photographs from the collection of the famous underwater photographer Olga Kamenskaya - these are images of pure natural water in its various states, in different conditions and geographical locations.

"The  Museum on Delegatskaya is looking for new forms of work, not only doing research, but also striving for dialogue with viewers and expanding the usual audience.The museum acquired its present structure in 1999, when the collections of the All-Russian Museum of Decorative and Applied and Folk Art in 1981, and the Museum of Folk Art named after S.T. Morozov (formerly the Handicraft Museum), founded in 1885, as well as library and archival funds of the Research Institute of the Art Industry.


From December 22, 2017 to January 28, 2018 in the All-Russian Museum of Decorative and Applied and Folk Art there will be an exhibition "Russian Feast". The exposition represents a variety of dishware forms from the end of the XVIII century to the beginning of the 1990s. 


On December 20 in the Italian city of Gorizia, Friuli Venezia Giulia region, in the Palazzo Attems the exhibition "The Russian Revolution. From Diaghilev to Abstractionism (1898 - 1922) ». Italian and Russian curators selected over one and a half hundred works, representing one of the most interesting periods of the history of Russian art. The All - Russian Museum of Decorative, Applied and Folk Art has provided exquisite examples of lacquer miniature and beaded articles, characteristic of the aesthetics of the World of Art, as well as works "born of revolution" - agitation porcelain and art metal.

«According to the concept approved in 2012, today the plan for the development of the museum space has been realized, the wing of the Osterman mansion has been restored - building B, an official site and a virtual museum have been created. Also there were new directions of activity: museum shop, Children's center, Center for fashion and design. Over the past 5 years, the museum has published 14 albums, catalogs and collections. In addition, 317 exhibitions, 16 round tables and conferences were held, 236 special projects were realized.»
